I had a wonderful time teaching the Piscataway Police Club today.

I’ve always had gratitude and respect for the work police officers do—especially the officers who put in the extra time to serve and strengthen their communities.

Jiu-jitsu teaches mental discipline, control, patience, and respect for people of every size, age, and culture. Police work is about much more than handing out tickets. Officers may encounter elderly people, young children, or individuals dealing with mental health challenges. Knowing how to grapple and safely control a situation can help protect everyone involved and keep the community safe.

Great work today!

Surprised the kids with an ice cream truck today.

Honestly, I’m the lucky one. I get to teach these kids, watch them grow, build their confidence, and be a part of their lives.

Martial arts is bigger than punches, kicks, and winning medals. It’s about the memories, the relationships, and helping kids become better people.

I’m grateful every day that their parents trust me with them.

Congratulations to both Sophia and Jordan on an outstanding performance today! I’m so proud of everything they’ve accomplished and even more excited to watch them continue growing into strong leaders on and off the mats.

A special shoutout to Jordan for bringing home the gold! 🥇 The future is bright for both of you. Keep working hard—this is just the beginning.

Successful people aren’t successful because they’re smarter than everyone else. They’re successful because they’re willing to stay uncomfortable longer than everyone else.

Everyone wants the end result. Everybody wants the money, the body, the business, the black belt. Very few people want to do the boring stuff every single day that actually gets them there.

You don’t become successful because you had one great day. You become successful because you refuse to miss the work day after day after day.

Comfort is addictive. The second you start avoiding hard things, you stop growing.

The people who win keep putting themselves in uncomfortable situations. They have the hard conversations. They train when they’re tired. They show up when motivation is gone. They keep going when nobody is watching.

How you do anything is how you do everything.

Stop waiting until you feel like it. Get up. Do the work. Stack another day. Then do it again tomorrow.

A year from now you’ll either have a list of excuses or a life you built through consistency.

The choice is yours.

I don’t cry often, but yesterday I shed a few tears.

Today was the last class for Leonor and Matteo Tapia. Their family is moving back to their home country, and saying goodbye was tougher than I expected.

One of the best parts of what we do is getting to watch kids grow up. Not just as martial artists, but as people.

When Leonor first walked through our doors, she was shy, quiet, and intimidated by just about everything. Over the years, I’ve watched her turn into one of the toughest kids in the room. More importantly, she became someone the other students respect, look up to, and genuinely care about.

Matteo has always been the opposite in many ways. Full of personality, energy, and always finding a way to make people laugh. He’s the kind of kid who makes every class a little more fun just by being there.

What got me today wasn’t just saying goodbye to them. It was seeing the other kids get emotional when they found out they were leaving. It reminded me that what we have here is bigger than martial arts. These kids build friendships, create memories, and become part of each other’s lives.

Leonor and Matteo, I hope you keep attacking life the same way you attacked the mats. Keep showing up. Keep working hard. Keep believing in yourselves. The confidence, discipline, and toughness you’ve built here will take you a lot further than any belt ever will.

As a coach, moments like this are bittersweet. You’re proud because you’ve watched them grow into amazing young people. You’re sad because they’re leaving. But that’s part of the journey.

Thank you for being part of our AllStar family.

We’ll miss you guys, but we’ll be cheering for you from a distance.

Once AllStar family, always AllStar family.
