In the Studio 🎙

Today we wanted to highlight another amazing opportunity for our students while we were in NOLA. Our ensemble had the chance to record at & experience and learn the inner workings of recording your music in a studio.

The tremendous work they did that day as well as everything they’ve learned, is all too relevant to what we’re working on right now at UCMD. Since before the trip, the ensemble has been learning elements of production and audio engineering and is currently working on their own EP at our own in-house studio. We hope to be able to share their project with you by the end of the school year!🎶

Hola mi gente! Tomorrow its is Latin Night at UCMD! Get ready to glam up, put on those dancing shoes, and we will see you there!

Our music and dance ensembles will be bringing the flavor with a night full of SABOR. We will have never before heard songs and pieces, solo and group performances, and did we mention lots and lots of dancing!

This is a fundraising event, all proceeds go towards this summer’s New Orleans student trip. BYOB for those 21+, soft drinks and finger foods will be sold at the event.

Doors open @6:30pm

So thankful for this creative family ♥️

We had our full team at our shows this weekend and what a blast we had! “If you want to go fast go alone if you want to go far go with others.”Not just any others, find people you like and run 🏃‍♀️ It’s been an incredible and transformative few months over here at Nuestra Casita, and we are just getting started!

UCMD is certainly a magical place, and we are so full of gratitude to have this place be the setting of self discovery, core memories, and what our students will grow up to recall as “the good ol’ days”.

This is a reminder to any aspiring creative: If you long for a place, product, or service that doesn’t exist it’s because you are meant to create it. Go at your own pace, and let authenticity guide you ✨

UCMD = Casita ✨🏠🌸

After watching “Encanto” many of our students started calling UCMD casita, and it warmed our hearts. This is a magical creative casita, thus we decided it would be our inspiration for our next performance.

Come one come all to help us celebrate the end of winter, beginning of spring through this Encanto, magic filled performance. (Tix link in bio!) 🎟

✨📷 Photoshoot options will be available for all students and non students that want to have a shoot with Nuestra Casita. All proceeds go towards our summer New Orleans Jazz fest trip with UCMD students ♥️

The benefits of children participating in the performing arts is numerous. They build upon their social, emotional, physical and even academic skills, resulting into enhanced cognitive ,motor and social skills. Being involved in music and dance results in working together and building a strong relationship with teachers and students which reinforces their identity in school. Further, researches in mental health have stated that one in every ten children are being diagnosed with mental health disorders, engaging in performing arts greatly reduces this risk.

In upcoming posts we’ll dive deeper as to how each area of what UCMD offers can support your child move forward in life with the necessary skills they are not reached at school.
