Superintendent's Message for September 4, 2026 (Spanish & Mandarin translations link included)
Dear New Haven Families,
As we head into the Labor Day weekend, I want to take a moment to thank all of the hardworking employees who make New Haven Unified such a special place. Our teachers, classified staff, administrators, and support teams work every day to make a difference for our students and families. I would also like to thank NHTA, CSEA, and NHAA for their partnership with the district. While these groups are strong advocates for their members, our work together has made New Haven a better place for staff members and students.
The uptick in immigration enforcement activities across the country reinforces our efforts to provide resources for students, families, and staff members. Each site and school district department now has readily available resources in multiple languages in the main offices. We have also curated these resources in an easy-to-find location on our website. You can access this site here. Staff is available to assist families however we can at our sites. Please inquire at the school or district office if you need support.

If you are interested in the renaming of Cesar Chavez Middle School and you haven’t provided input yet, it is not too late to do so. We have put all information about the process and how you can provide input in one place on our website, which you can access here.

In last week’s update, I shared that Science in the Park is back this year. I also shared that Alameda County Supervisor Eliza Marquez’s office is considering offering transportation from Union City/South Hayward to and from the event. They want to gauge interest in whether transportation is needed. However, I shared the wrong “interest” link last week. You can find the correct link here. You can learn more about this event here: Science in the Park.

Sincerely,
