Congratulations to Andrew & Xavier for their completion of the Decuerdas unit of DSFMA. Over the course of ~2 years, these gentlemen have been forged by dedicated training and heated competition into eskrimadores with great promise and potential. Welcome to the next chapter 🐉⚔️

SEVEN. YEARS. LATER!!
181 competitors across 4 divisions, 2 combative & 2 demonstration. The Ohana showed up and showed out for camaraderie through combat. We at DSFMA & DDMMA extend our deepest gratitude to everyone involved that raised the bar and set the new standard 💪🏾💯
We wish these warriors hard earned and well deserved rest before returning to the forge to sharpen our iron 🐉⚔️

This is what 475+ pounds of community action looks like.
Clothing, bags, and essentials packed and delivered to support foster youth through Alameda County Foster Parent Association.
Martial arts doesn’t just produce fighters, it builds people who show up for their community when it counts. A black belt is still a black belt off the mat.
These drives are simple by design: clear need, clear action, and a real result.
Respect to the local businesses and schools that helped make access easier for those who wanted to give. This is part of the standard.
Train with us, and you’re part of something that moves outside the gym.
More work coming.
If you want to be part of the next one, stay ready.

Ohana
We’re organizing a community donation drive to support children entering the foster system through the Alameda County Foster Parent Association. When kids are removed from their homes, many leave with nothing more than what they could carry. We’re working to make sure they receive basic necessities and a little dignity during a difficult transition.
Please check the flyer for high-need items, drop-off times, and contact details. Donations of relevant items not listed are also welcome. If you’re able to contribute, reach out or bring items during the collection period. Every bit of support from this community makes a real difference, and we’re grateful for all the help we can get.

Last night we were joined on the mat by Sifu Felix Macias Jr of .oaklandjkd and his assistants to bridge the gap between JKD and FMA. Both are pragmatic, experiment driven combat systems that stem from tradition but favor of what actually works under pressure. Methodically we share centerline interception, broken rhythm, limb destructions and trapping, and fluid transitions between ranges. Spiritually we prize simplicity, adaptability, and a weapon informed logic that keeps empty hand techniques compact and damaging. In application both train tools for chaos, not sport. With the same energy, we continue to work bridging the gap between tribes, styles, and systems for the benefit of those that come after 🤜🏾🫷🏾

Dragon Sticks FMA extends our deep gratitude to Natalie & Cameron Gooding for joining my eskrima class for a night and generously sharing their expertise in competitive fencing; their fresh perspective on weapon mechanics and footwork gave us all invaluable cross-disciplinary insight. It was an honor to learn from both and we thank them for pushing our training forward 🙏🏽⚔️

Professor Jeff and G**o Adrian brought their love of eskrima to the CCMS Asian/Pacific Islander club in the form of sinawali patterns, partner drills, and insight into the interconnected nature of the Filipino Martial Arts. Investing in the next generation is an investment in the future 🐉⚔️

Quality time was spent with some of the Ohana in Vacaville for a sparring workshop led by GM David Ducay and his Kajukenbo Escrima group, and hosted by Ramirez Martial Arts at their beautiful dojo. Critical elements of point sparring, live stick fighting, stick grappling, and Juego Todo were explored and everyone got to enjoy the camaraderie through combat.
No Ego. No Tribalism. Only love & respect shared by a group with a common passion.
