Resurfacing underway along U.S.160 in Ulysses
The Kansas Department of Transportation has begun a multi-phase highway resurfacing project today, April 2, along U.S. 160 from west of Comanche Street to South Road K/S Stubbs Road within the Ulysses city limits. This first phase of this resurfacing project will upgrade U.S. 160 by replacing the existing asphalt with concrete and improving multiple driveways.
Traffic on U.S. 160 will be limited to one lane and directed by temporary traffic signals. The work zone will be marked with signs and cones with a reduced speed limit. Drivers should plan for possible delays of up to 15 minutes. A vehicle restriction of 11 feet wide or 75 feet long will be in place.
During the initial phase of this project, motorists should anticipate turning restrictions at Missouri Street. Through southbound and northbound U.S, 160 traffic will be allowed on Missouri Street. Traffic turning onto U.S. 160 from either direction on Missouri Street will not be allowed. Additionally, westbound traffic on U.S. 160 will be unable to turn left onto Missouri Street.
As the project progresses, several city road accesses to U.S. 160 will be temporarily closed; KDOT will inform locals during each closure. These measures are necessary to complete the improvements.
Vogts-Parga Construction LLC, of Moundridge, is the contractor on this $2.5 million project, which is anticipated to be completed by the end of July, weather permitting.
