With great sadness, we share with you the death of former Saints Foundation Executive Director Gene Honn.

His family announced his death this morning. At this time, no arrangements have been announced.

We send our heartfelt condolences to Gene's family and friends. He impacted many lives, not just at Shawnee Community College, but through his years of service at Southern Illinois Healthcare.

We send our condolences to the family of former Shawnee Community College President Dr. Jack Hill. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Rest in peace.

It is with great sadness that Shawnee Community College announces the passing of former president Dr. Jack Hill.

He was appointed as the third president of Shawnee Community College in January of 1991. During his tenure, Dr. Hill uplifted the College and renewed its spirit through his integrity and morale-building leadership.

Under Dr. Hill's leadership, SCC expanded extension centers and experienced a significant enrollment growth. He initiated and built financial support for Building K, which houses the Educational Center, computer labs, the biology lab, general classrooms, and faculty offices.

In 1996, Dr. Hill was selected as the first President Emeritus of Shawnee Community College for his initiative and foresight.

We offer our condolences to Dr. Hill's family, friends, and colleagues. Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna is handling the funeral services.

Illinois Children's Healthcare Foundation and the Tri-State Food Bank will hold a mobile food distribution on Friday, January 24, at our Main campus (8364 Shawnee College Rd. Ullin, IL). The group will be set up in the first row of the parking lot on the Main campus.

The event begins at 10:00 a.m. and will continue until noon or while supplies last.

This is great news. Thanks to all who supported the Feed the Need Food Drive and Bernie’s Place at Shawnee Community College!

We want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to all who supported the Feed the Need Food Drive this fall.

The Illinois Community College Board created a contest amongst the state's 48 community colleges.

Shawnee Community College placed fifth over, collecting 2,346 items during the contest.

All items went to Bernie's Place, SCC's food pantry on our main campus and extension centers.

We appreciate your generosity, and we're already brainstorming new ideas for the 2025 Feed the Need Food Drive.
