A quantum computer…inside an FCPS high school?!

Fairfax County Public Schools recently announced plans to bring what it describes as the world’s first operational quantum computer in a K–12 school setting to Skyview High School.

And THIS is exactly why we started The Technology Group

Technology careers are changing faster than ever, creating opportunities that many of us as parents weren’t even exposed to when we were in school.

FCPS Superintendent said the goal is to prepare students for careers that may not even exist yet. The new program is expected to give students hands-on opportunities in coding, mathematics, experimentation, data analysis, problem solving, communication and collaboration.

But here’s the question we’ve been thinking about at The Technology Group:

How early should that exposure begin?

Elementary and middle school is the perfect tjme!

✔️Try coding.
✔️Learn what cybersecurity actually is.
✔️Meet someone working in cloud technology.
✔️Experiment with AI.
✔️Discover a technology career they didn’t even know existed.

They just need opportunities to learn the foundational skills!

Parents: What technology do you wish your child could get hands-on exposure to before high school? AI? Cybersecurity? Coding? Robotics? Cloud? Quantum computing? Something else?

Drop it in the comments. 👇🏾

And if your student is ready to start building now, registration for our next Python Coding Camp opens Spring 2027.

Follow The Technology Group so you don’t miss registration.

The Technology Group had the privilege of participating in the Soaring Eagle Alliance STEM Showcase, and WOW what an inspiring experience!

We were surrounded by brilliant young minds who are already thinking critically, solving real-world problems, and creating solutions that could shape our future.

From river intelligence and concussion prevention to energy generation and the future of robotic surgery, these student leaders reminded us why investing in the next generation of innovators matters.

Joe Bangali also had the opportunity to share insights from his career as a Senior Cloud Engineer and our mission to make technology education more accessible to students.

Our vision is to help students not only learn how to code, but also develop the professional skills and connections needed to explore future careers in technology.
