Ever wondered where to start with music appreciation?

I’ve created a brand-new video course called Foundations of Music Appreciation, and it gives your children the basic listening skills they need to enjoy and understand great music.

Your children will learn how to listen for what makes music music—things like rhythm, instrumentation, dynamics, tempo, and mood.

Everything is taught for you.

Simply press play and let me teach!

The course includes video lessons, SQUIZ-zes (SQUILT quizzes!) to reinforce what your children are learning, and a printable Student Workbook to use along the way.

It’s self-paced, family-friendly, and requires NO previous musical experience.

🎶 A little taste of codfish, anyone? 😂

Edvard Grieg once famously described his music as having a “taste of codfish” in it — his humorous way of acknowledging just how deeply Norway was woven into his music. 🇳🇴

And this week in SQUILT LIVE!, we’re getting a taste of Grieg ourselves as we listen to his beautiful Morning Mood from Peer Gynt.

We’ll listen for the flute and oboe, follow the rising and falling melodic contour, and discover how the orchestra can paint a picture of morning — all without saying a single word. 🌅🎶

THIS is why I love music appreciation. A funny quote about codfish can lead us straight into Norway, Grieg, the orchestra, and one of classical music’s most recognizable melodies. ❤️

Who knew music appreciation could include codfish? 🐟😂
