A honeybee dearth is a food shortage!🐝

☀️hot, dry weather that keeps flowers from making nectar
🌼spring flowers finish growing, and autumn plants are not yet open

You can help!
💧keep flowers watered
🌻plant late-summer flowers

This way the bees have food to make their winter honey🍯

How did our bees respond to the smoky haze from the wildfires? Less active but not very concerned🐝

Finding 🌼🌸 can be harder with limited visibility and scent but...good news: healthy honey bee colonies are remarkably resilient and regulate the hive's temperature and ventilation by fanning their wings.

*Not quite!

Honey bees are usually gentle and calm but can become quite feisty when they are stressed out💦

Common triggers:
💢a nectar dearth (insufficient food)
💢losing their queen
💢attacks from predators or pests
💢adverse weather conditions

Here at The Colony we love our bees-even when they do not love us🐝❤️

Stop by soon to see some bees, taste some honey, have a sip of mead, or just say hello!

Comb honey is the purest, rawest form of honey available-honey exactly as the 🐝🐝 make it!

💪Because the honey is naturally sealed and unheated, all the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants are retained.

Bonus: Traces of propolis, royal jelly, and bee pollen are often present as well🍯

💥Try it straight: the honey will burst onto your palate, and you can chew the edible wax like gum!

It’s hot and the sky is strange-definitely a good time for a refresh☀️😎

This well-balanced, crisp, and effervescent treat might just do the trick🍷

Easy:
🫐Fill a large wine or spritz glass with ice
🫐Add the ingredients
🫐Sit back and enjoy!

Need a taste before you create? Stop by The Colony anytime for a sample🐝

Honeybees are quite docile and sting primarily in self-defense or to protect their hive.

Fun Sting Facts:
🐝Only female bees have stingers.
🐝Their stinger is barbed, causing it to stay in the skin.
🐝A bee dies after stinging.
🐝Stinging releases an alarm pheromone, alerting other bees to the threat.

Stop by and see our Observation Hive!
