❓ Besides God’s call for you to be at CHS, why do you choose to be a teacher here?
"I am thankful to be part of a school that emphasizes knowing God. Discipling through education isn’t just a catchy slogan here; it’s the heartbeat of this school. We want these young people to know their Maker. We want them to experience His love and grace in our classrooms. It brings me joy to get to do this everyday at CHS."
❓ Where do you get your inspiration for teaching?
"The students are the ones who inspire me every day. On the first day of school, I walked into my room and found four notes on my desk from former students (alumni) wishing me well and encouraging me with words of kindness and love. Finding those messages brought tears to my eyes and reminded me why I teach."
❓What does discipleship mean to you in your relationship with students?
"There’s more to each student than what I see. There’s a story behind the story being spoken. Discipling involves genuinely caring about what I see and don’t see…caring about the whole person. Discipling points the students to Jesus, the One who knows them best and loves them most. I love the subjects I teach and want to engage them in the material, but more than anything I want these young people to tangibly feel God’s love in my classroom and in the way I interact with them. John Milton says it best, ‘The end of all learning is to know God, and out of that knowledge to love and imitate Him.’"
❓ If a parent asked, “why should I send my child to CHS?” What would you tell them? Because they belong here! There’s no better place for your child to be!! Your children will be seen, known, and loved at CHS. In every subject, they’ll be taught principles that point them to Jesus. They’ll be encouraged regularly to reason from God’s Word. They’ll have teachers who genuinely care about them. It doesn’t get any better than that 🙂
