Career & Technology Center - Tyler ISD

What a great year!

Tyler ISD Career & Technology Cosmetology students participated in a clipper class with our industry partner, Great Clips. About 35 students learned three different haircuts using clippers, engaged in dialogue with our partners, and very importantly, had fun! One of the partners previously received her Cosmetology education from us right here at the CTC, and is now a Salon Manager. If you would like more information on the program, please visit

Griffin Elementary visited the Career & Technology Center today and participated in some interesting hands-on tasks to help introduce them to Career & Technical Education (CTE). CTC teachers created some fun tasks such as cookie making, wound care, Lego building, animal care, roofing, nail care, how to use proper protective equipment, sanding a car, teaching activities, and finger printing. It was a great way to engage students at the end off another great school year in Tyler ISD!

18 Tyler ISD and Career & Technology Center senior students from the Family and Community Services pathway successfully completed the State of Texas Community Health Worker course, in collaboration with UT Tyler Center for Rural and Community Health. Once the course is complete they will be a certified CHW and can work in various areas of community health, such as chronic disease prevention , child health, and behavioral health, and at nonprofit organizations that service the community. The event was held at the CTC to honor the graduates, with family and friends attending.
