TJC received a $325,293 Jobs and Education for Texans grant from the Texas Workforce Commission to support training for veterinary technologists and technicians through the College’s Veterinary Technology program. The grant, previously awarded through the 2025 Jobs and Education for Texans grant cycle, was recognized Friday during a ceremony at TJC where TWC Commissioner Brent Connett presented the awards alongside state and local officials and TJC staff.

On weekends, country artist Chris Colston stands beneath concert lights across Texas, guitar in hand, sharing stages with artists including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gary Allan and Cody Johnson. But, during the week, Colston has been trading his guitar for a laptop as he earned a degree from Tyler Junior College.

TJC students are earning national recognition for academic achievement, leadership and service, receiving more than $19,000 in competitive scholarships and honors this spring through Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society programs.
