This past Tuesday, despite the dreary weather, we gathered on campus for something powerful: a celebration of the life-changing impact of generosity.

Contributors and scholarship recipients came together in the LaVerne & Michael Gollob Event Room for the 15th annual Awards of Excellence Luncheon, a meaningful reminder that support at TJC doesn’t end at graduation.

Because of donors like you, 13 students received transition scholarships to help them take the next step toward their bachelor’s degrees, while 19 more are continuing their journey through the TJC-UTTyler Promise Transfer Scholarship.

A special thank you to our Scholarships Office for bringing this event to life and ensuring each student’s achievement was recognized so thoughtfully.

A fourth-generation Tyler native, Dr. Edwards shares his family's enduring legacy at TJC, tracing back to the early days of the institution. We are incredibly excited to announce that the Tyler Junior College Wind Ensemble has been invited to perform at the 2027 TMEA Clinic/Convention.

This marks the second time the ensemble has received this honor, and we are grateful for the opportunity to represent Tyler Junior College and our community.

“We are proud of the hard work, dedication, and artistry of our students and faculty, and we look forward to sharing music with colleagues and friends at the convention,” said Jeremy Strickland, Director of Bands.

Rotary clubs across Tyler continue to make a lasting impact in our community, and the Rotary Club of Tyler recently carried on that tradition by hosting the 97th Annual Rotary Young Citizens Award Banquet.

Dr. Juan E. Mejia, President of Tyler Junior College, had the honor of serving as guest speaker, sharing words of gratitude and encouragement with this inspiring group of young leaders.

We are especially proud to celebrate TJC’s own Yasillette Gandarilla, who was recognized as one of this year’s award recipients!

Each year, one young man and one young woman are selected from participating Smith County schools based on outstanding character and leadership.

Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees who represent the very best of East Texas!

Every August, employees of Tyler Junior College come together to invest in student success through the Employee Campaign, supporting campus programs and the Employee Campaign Scholarship.

Because of their generosity, 22 students received scholarships this year and recently had the opportunity to meet the very people who made it possible.

Thank you to our incredible TJC faculty and staff who choose to give back to the place they call home. Your generosity is making a lasting difference in the lives of our students.
