Alpha Lambda Omega Chapter proudly celebrates the induction of award-winning actress and director salli Richardson Whitfield as an Honorary Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® during the 72nd Boule in Las Vegas.
A few of her remarkable accomplishments:
• Made Emmy history as the first Black woman nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.
• Served as Executive Producer and Director for acclaimed HBO series including The Gilded Age and Task.
• Recipient of multiple Gracie Awards and a Black Reel Award for her outstanding work in television.
• Directed episodes of acclaimed series including Queen Sugar, Scandal, The Chi, Black-ish, Dear White People and The Wheel of Time.
From captivating audiences on screen to breaking barriers behind the camera, Salli Richardson-Whitfield continues to inspire through excellence, creativity, and visionary leadership.

Johnson Thompson never expected that a quiet early morning would turn into a life-saving moment.

The 17-year-old from Alabama was outside working when he noticed a car pull over nearby. A 76-year-old woman named Fannie Garner stepped out, but something was clearly wrong — she was stumbling and struggling to find her way.

Instead of looking away, Johnson walked over to check on her.

Fannie told him she had a terrible headache and needed directions to the nearest emergency room. Johnson immediately knew she needed help. He brought her a chair, stayed with her, and called 911.

When doctors examined Fannie at the hospital, they discovered she was suffering from an active brain bleed — a dangerous condition that could have taken her life without quick action.

A simple decision to stop and care for a stranger became the reason Fannie got the urgent treatment she needed.

Months later, the two reunited, and Fannie shared that she would never forget the teenager who showed compassion when she needed it most.

Sometimes, being a hero doesn’t mean doing something extraordinary — it means noticing someone who needs help and choosing not to walk away. ❤️

Virginia is reportedly on higher alert as health officials continue monitoring cases of Cyclospora, a foodborne parasite that can cause prolonged diarrhea, fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, and weight loss. With news outlets reporting increased illnesses increasing across the U.S. and Virginia, now is the time to be extra mindful of food safety.

🥗 Protect yourself by:
🩷 Washing fresh fruits and vegetables thoroughly under running water.
💚 Choosing lower-risk produce when possible.
🩷 Washing produce before cutting, even if you don’t eat the peel.
💚 Seeking medical care if you develop persistent watery diarrhea, especially after eating fresh produce.

Your health starts with informed choices. Let’s continue to enjoy the benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables while practicing safe food handling.
