In 1878, Decoration Day was the first national day of honor in which the graves of Union soldiers were decorated with flowers. Over one hundred years later, the event transformed into Memorial Day, which became an official holiday in 1971.

Ya-A-Te, meaning “Welcome” in Apache, is a three-day off-campus retreat for incoming and returning Tyler Junior College students filled with leadership, teamwork, new friendships, and fun! 🛶🔥

Enjoy canoeing, zip-lining, nightly activities, and tribal games while learning about life at TJC.
