On Tuesday, May 10th Rusk High School seniors took time to celebrate that graduation is right around the corner and that they’ve worked hard to finish all of their Promise requirements.
Students spent the day writing thank you notes to our donors, enjoying cookie cake, and taking pictures showing TJC as their first and best choice!
Congratulations, senior!

Today was an exciting day at Rusk High School! Congratulations to the Class of 2022 Rusk TJC Citizens Promise Scholars!
Annually TJC hosts a special ceremony in the auditorium including the entire student body, parents, community members and representatives from Citizens 1st Bank and TJC. Although covid tried to stop us from celebrating this year, we “pivoted” and recognized students individually in the high school library. Students were recognized for their achievement and celebrated by their fellow classmates.
A partnership between Citizens 1st Bank, The James I. Perkins Family Foundation and Tyler Junior College established the Rusk TJC Citizens Promise in 2014. The first of its kind in the state of Texas, this scholarship program will improve the lives of countless Rusk students and families.
The Rusk TJC Citizens Promise is available exclusively to qualifying Rusk High School graduates who enroll at Tyler Junior College within three years of graduation.
Rusk TJC Citizens Promise Scholars may receive up to $8,000 for two years to be used toward tuition, fees, books and housing.
Unlike a typical college experience, Rusk TJC Citizens Promise Scholars have access to a dedicated Promise scholarship coordinator who will guide them toward their academic goals. Students will meet with the coordinator and TJC staff once a month in the library to help prepare students to start their college journey at TJC in the fall.
