“As a stream can rise no higher than its source, so it is probable that no educational effort can rise above the whole scheme of thought which gives it birth.” -Charlotte Mason

Charlotte Mason believed that educational practice flows from educational philosophy which is why we continue to read and study her works. This summer we are diving into “Home Education” to deepen our understanding of the ideas that shape the way we teach and to cultivate a living education for our children. May our own continued education aid us in educating with greater purpose, confidence, and consistency.

“This is what we wish to do for children in teaching them to draw––to cause the eye to rest, not unconsciously, but consciously, on some object of beauty which will leave in their minds an image of delight for all their lives to come.” -Charlotte Mason, Home Education)

We had our last nature study day of this school year!

“A love of Nature, implanted so early that it will seem to them hereafter to have been born in them, will enrich their lives with pure interests, absorbing pursuits, health, and good humour” (Charlotte Mason, Home Education).

Our Form 3 & 4 students have been working on their Lincoln Douglas debates. This year in our History and Humanities class we read the Federalist Papers, Thomas Paine’s Common Sense, The Constitution and The Declaration of Independence weekly, among many other historical documents, along with Biographies, Literature, Dictation and Grammar, Citizenship, Composition, Worldview and more. Next year we will explore the Modern History cycle. If you are interested in hearing more about our Charlotte Mason Co-op, reach out and we would be happy to talk with you.

We have started our school year with our older students and about to start with everyone else this coming week.

Please keep in mind that our co-op is for ages 6 years and up and only for Charlotte Mason families. We don't facilitate groups with younger children.

We have received emails from those who are interested in CM but don't know anything about the philosophy. Unfortunately, we aren't able to provide education on the CM philosophy since that is something we are not focused on providing. We ask that you do your own research and know the bare minimum BEFORE contacting us.

HOWEVER WE RECOMMEND THE FOLLOWING AND IN THIS ORDER...

1.Read, For the Children's Sake (on amazon) before making the decision to follow CM's philosophy. Its low cost book that is succinct and provides a good overview.

2.Visit Ambleside Online- amblesideonline.org . This is a good resource!

3. Read Home Education by CM. If you have not at least read Charlotte Mason's first book Home Education, do NOT jump into homeschooling with her philosophy. You will only set yourself up for failure. You wouldn't jump into renovating a house without the knowledge to do so and in the same way a philosophy of education takes time to understand to implement. Take a year or so to read her book(s) before you implement.

Co-op sign up is closing July 4th for new members! Participation in our summer CM book discussion is required before joining.
