📢CALL FOR ABSTRACTS:

The National Academies of Practice (NAP) invites you to submit an abstract for their educational sessions (lightning talks, roundtables, workshops, and posters) at the 2027 NAP Annual Meeting and Forum in Washington, DC on March 4-6, 2027.

The NAP Forum seeks to promote collaboration across and among individuals engaged in interprofessional practice within clinical, educational, research, and/or policy settings. It's designed to empower individuals and collaborative teams, with emphasis on the following four themes:
Preparing Collaborative Professionals to Lead in a Changing Health Landscape
Shaping Policy Through Interprofessional Voice and Evidence
Artificial Intelligence, Digital Innovation, and the Future of Interprofessional Practice
Advancing Collaborative Care Through Practice Innovation and Implementation

We are excited share a paper from our own secretary/treasurer, Chris O'Brien. It was published in the latest edition of the Journal of Allied Health. It is an interprofessional collaboration of the Clinical Education Committee of ASAHP, with eight authors representing six different health professions (Dietician Nutritionist, Physical Therapist, Athletic Trainer, Clinical Lab Scientist, Dental Hygienist, Medical Laboratory Scientist).

The special report presents a framework for advancing clinical education across health professions. This essential document emphasizes the importance of expanding clinical education settings; integrating artificial intelligence and telehealth into curricula; ensuring alignment of interprofessional competencies with accreditation standards; and continuing to facilitate collaborative practice across disciplines. These efforts are essential to training a workforce that not only is clinically competent but also adaptable, mindful of equity, and capable of thriving in diverse, team-based care settings.

It may not have been interprofessional but Dr. Matt Kutz and Dr. Kelley Henderson connected with our athletic therapy neighbors across the border 🍁this past weekend. They both presented during the CATA Conference and enjoyed some free time in Calgary!

📢Check out the King's College Mass Casualty Incident Simulation - and they made the local news. 📢

Not only was it health professions students and area practitioners, it also included campus and city law enforcement, healthcare administration, criminal justice, social work, and local health system executives. The AT students were the first responders and those that met the victims at the entrance of the ER. They also utilized our theater students as the actors/actresses for an interdisciplinary event.
