Mission Farrier School

Mission Farrier School Horseshoeing School, Farrier Education MFS has been teaching modern, relevant hoof science to Natural Balance protocols since 1996.

You'll learn the importance of a heel first landing, determining where breakover belongs and why, what the pivot point for forward movement means to your horse, how to identify unhealthy distortion (excess leverage), how to correctly trim the foot for barefoot or shoeing, what shoe to use and why, the anatomy of the lower limb, how it is designed to function, how to properly shape shoes, and how to communicate all this to your client.

This will be a fun one based right here at MFS. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1Etofac22Z/

For these up and coming farriers, this is where it starts…with the the horse.
Learning to watch. To feel. To understand.

As Ray Hunt said,
“First you have to learn how to think like a horse.”

That’s the foundation here.

Way to go Lily!

Success Story Saturday

Lily Cotell, a Natural Resource Management graduate, says, “The skills I learned in my classes have helped me with every single part of my life.” From operating chainsaws and farm equipment to understanding conservation and maple syrup production, she credits PAHCC for teaching her practical skills. She says, All a big thanks to Mr. Towndsend for teaching me all these life skills I use every single day!”

After working at Monsalvat Farm in Barnard, Lily is now “a certified farrier and the manager of a horse stable in southern Vermont.” She earned her certification through Mission Farrier School in Oregon and says, “I am very much enjoying my career!”

Read more about Lily in the upcoming edition of the PAHCC Pulse.

Veterans: Build Your Future With Horses.

Leaving the military changes a lot. For some veterans, the hardest part isn’t the work — it’s finding something that feels meaningful.

Farriery is skilled trade work in the horse industry. You solve problems. You work outdoors. You build a reputation based on your ability.

You make every effort to
“Do something FOR the horse, not TO the horse.”

At Mission Farrier School, we train students in small, hands-on classes. The goal isn’t just to learn how to shoe a horse — it’s to leave with the skill and confidence to build your own business while offering a needed service to horses and their owners.
