ππ¬ Second grade is exploring the Savannah Riverβpast, present, and from every angle!π¨π±
Our 2nd graders rotated through hands-on learning experiences that combined history, science, technology, art, and agriculture! π€©
π¨ Multimedia Art: Students explored the rich history of the Savannah River and the people who have depended on it for generations.
π₯¬ Hydroponics: From seed to salad! Students investigated the life cycle of a plant while using our hydroponic growing system to grow their very own lettuce. Along the way, they connected their learning to how Creek and Cherokee communities historically grew and gathered food along the Savannah River. π±π§
ππ» Technology: Students listened to a read-aloud of A River Ran Wild and explored how Native American communities relied on rivers as important resources for food, transportation, and daily life. ππΆ
ππ¬ Seed Scientists: How does your perspective change when you take a closer look? Students investigated seeds with the naked eye, magnifying glasses, AND microscopes, comparing what they noticed at each level and recording their observations in their STEAM journals!
