Grateful to family and friends supporting the IEA Children's Fund!
They tell us that they have 60 people ready to take our jobs.. well I hope so, because your less than 20 employees are looking for better jobs.. Don't treat us bad when we have been doing our jobs and dealing with everything on top of being treated badly.. it's stressful enough to know that we no longer will have jobs.. we don't need to have our feelings toyed with while we still show up every day to do someone else's job..
BOARD MEETING TONIGHT, THURSDAY, JULY 25, AT 7 PM. PLEASE ATTEND WITH ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS.
Heading to Summer Institute? Be sure to stop by the GRPace table and buy this amazing shirt. The GRPace committee will be selling these throughout the conference! Also, don’t forget the silent auction! Please share in your region so everyone remembers their $$. See you soon! #redfored

The Basics of Differentiation

The Basics of Differentiation Why Differentiation? Differentiation within our classrooms is more important now than ever. So, how do we meet the needs of all our...

With the new school year underway or about to start around the state, the Idaho Education Association has issued the following statement about COVID-19 vaccines and safety protocols. Please stay healthy and have a wonderful year. #idedu #askaneducator #IEA

IEA members continue to recognize the value of in-person instruction for students and educators. With another dramatic increase in COVID-19 cases due to the Delta variant, it is also imperative that we protect the health of our students, staff, and communities. The best tools at our disposal to ensure that safe, in-person instruction can take place are vaccines and, at for the time being, face coverings. To that end, we encourage Idahoans to get vaccinated as soon as possible, and we urge local school boards to prioritize safety through face coverings and other protocols recommended by medical experts.

Our hearts are with the administrators, teachers, and students of the Rigby School District.

We send positive thoughts to the victims of the tragic incident that occurred this morning at Rigby Middle School and hope for their full and rapid recovery.

Patience will need to be at a premium while school officials and law enforcement agencies investigate the situation.

The IEA and our local education associations are ready, willing, and able to provide whatever support is needed for the staff, students, and community impacted by today’s act of violence.

K-12 budget fiasco the latest example of legislative dysfunction

K-12 budget fiasco the latest example of legislative dysfunction It seems that Idaho lawmakers are intentionally dismantling public education through underfunding of schools, canceling the voices of professional educators, and extremist grandstanding.

So true.

The teacher shortage in our schools isn’t only about the money. It doesn’t cost a dime to pay teachers the respect they deserve.

Please take a moment to read this article about HB 394!

House Republicans kill $1.1B budget for teacher salaries - Idaho Capital Sun Thirty-four House Republicans killed the $1.1 billion public school budget for Idaho teacher salaries Tuesday, raising even more uncertainty about the Legislature’s ability to adjourn the session.

[04/14/21]   Please send thanks to the Representatives in Region 4 who support education and our educators! The following Representatives voted YES on HB 394! Lance Clow, Linda Wright Hartgen, Laurie Lickley, Clark Kauffman, Muffy Davis, Sally Toone, and Scott Bedke. Fred Wood was absent.

[03/10/21]   Calling all members! Our voices need to be heard at the legislature! There are several bad bills trying to be pushed through. Please take a few minutes to contact your representatives and ask them to say NO! to HB 221, which allows districts to hire non-certified people to fill our classrooms and HB 174 "SHALL to MAY" bill that gives our voices away by allowing districts to choose whether they negotiate with teachers by saying they may negotiate instead of they shall negotiate with teachers.
Please let your voices be heard contact your representatives.

Lowering the Bar (Again) is Not the Answer to Idaho’s Teacher Shortage | IEA

Lowering the Bar (Again) is Not the Answer to Idaho’s Teacher Shortage | IEA “The IEA is vehemently opposed to House Bill 221, which would allow school districts to self-certify teachers based on extremely minimal qualification thresholds. Great job, IEA educators! It's frightening how many districts are bowing to the vocal minority who don't believe Covid-19 is dangerous and are unwilling to take necessary precautions to stop it's spread.

Idaho Falls Education Association held a safe schools rally today opposing the school boards opening plan. The school board rejected the a plan that had teacher, admin and patron input.
The IFEA team worked very hard to pull together and voice their concerns about safety for students and educators. They wrote hundreds of emails to their school board and after the board heard about the rally, they called an emergency meeting. Unity matters! Please share!

08/21/2020

This is how it's done! Bravo to the Kimberly Education Association for their well thought out and very well attended Back-to-School Picnic. They said they're taking care of themselves so that they and their students can have a successful school year. Their district is requiring masks for students and staff among other safety measures. They're excited to get back to school.
