🎓🏈 Kinders to Caps! ❤️🤍

One of our favorite Riverhawk traditions is back! Join us Friday, August 28 at halftime as our newest kindergarten Riverhawks meet our graduating seniors at the 50-yard line. ❤️

We can’t wait to welcome our future Riverhawks and celebrate this special tradition together!

Last week, Ms. Rachel, Ms. Kim, and our students put their science learning into action by making ice cream in a bag!

The kids loved watching—and feeling—the different textures as their ice cream came together. Some made soft serve, while others shook a little longer for a firmer treat!

Such a fun, hands-on science experience! We can’t wait for more experiments with these kiddos!

Hello Families!

Student drop-off and pick-up will be strictly enforced beginning Tuesday, August 25th

Before school: Parent drop-off will be on the East Side of the building only not at the front of the school. Unless prior arrangements have been made with the front office, your student will not be permitted to enter the front of the building before 8:00.

Bell Schedule:
7:55-warning bell for students and teachers to begin lining up (no students in the front)
8:00-school starts-teachers take classrooms inside
8:05-tardy bell

EAST SIDE
Student Car Pick Up on the East Side: Unless prior arrangements have been made, there will be no student pickup at the front of the building. No cars will be permitted in the staff parking lot. Any student getting picked up by a car will be picked up on the East side of the building, where students are dropped off in the morning. Please STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE, and the staff member will call for your student to come to your car. Please do not park and get out of your vehicle to get your student or ask them to come to you. This is a safety issue.

WEST SIDE
Students Walking: Students who are walking home will exit on the west side of the building. Adults who are meeting students on that side need to wait in the marked area. This is also where siblings will wait for each other as well.
Parents who want to park and meet their student will park along the street and meet their student on this side of the building. DO NOT GO TO THE EAST SIDE TO GET THEM.

Playground before school
With the first week of school completed, we are now asking parents to drop students off and not go to the playground. We have adults outside to help them and maintain safety.

The safety and well-being of your student is our top priority. The reason we have these rules in place is to keep ALL kids safe. We realize that it can be inconvenient and may take a little longer, but as we work together and respect the system in place, I can assure you that it will become a much quicker process. I sincerely appreciate your willingness to work with us as we begin enforcing this system. Please reach out with any questions.

This week in 5th grade Music we learned an activity called "Beat Tag." Students count to 4 but may only move and tag classmates on beat 1. Students found it was kind of tricky when classmates started getting close to stay moving ONLY on beat 1! Stay tuned for a weekly musical update from a single grade level each week.

🎉 Week 1 is in the books! 🎉

What a fun first week at Oregon Trail! We spent the last two days getting to know our students, practicing expectations, and building our classroom communities.

We welcomed a high school mentor, celebrated our Best DAY Ever with popsicles and music 🍧🎶, and wrapped up the week with one of our favorites—Hat Day! 🧢

What a great start to the year! 🐺💙
