We cheered on CSI this morning at the unveiling and ribbon cutting for the LeRoy Craig Jerome Center. A tour of the building showed how well it has been designed to help prepare students for industry, health care, and other professions. Way to go, CSI!

ISU Teacher Candidates currently participating in the Teaching in Rural Areas Immersion Learning (TRAIL) Experience got to see another part of the Challis School District today, as they visited the small Stanley School, which has 23 students grades K-9. They had a tour, met the teachers, were lucky enough to get to enjoy the rehearsal of the students' end of the year music program, and they got to ask a ton of questions about living and teaching in such a tiny, rural-remote community. Everyone greatly thanks the Stanley School community for being so welcoming!

After the school tour, they met with local longtime resident and business owner BZ Waite who shared additional information and answered more questions about what it's like to live and work in such a small, remote community, as well as the impacts (positive and challenging) of tourism.

The day ended with dinner at Mountain Village before driving back to Challis, where they will spend the rest of the week at the local school. On the drive, they also stopped to see the Sunbeam Historic Site. It was a great day of learning, and the gorgeous Sawtooth Mountain views definitely had a positive impact!

The 4th annual Teaching in Rural Areas Immersion Learning (TRAIL) Experience kicked off today! This year, Dr. Amanda Eller from ISU-TF and Suzanne Beasterfield from ISU main campus took 11 teacher candidates from the ISU Teacher Education Program to the rural-remote community of Challis. TRAIL provides these candidates the opportunity to partner with a local teacher all day, everyday for one week to learn what it is like to teach and live in a rural-remote community of Idaho. The purpose is to provide further exposure to teaching within Idaho's rural communities with the hope that these candidates become more open to applying for positions in rural and rural-remote areas when they have finished their programs. Thank you to the Challis School District for partnering with ISU's TRAIL Experience program this year. We look forward to a fantastic week!
