😎Love it!!

It’s the first day of Meteorological Spring! Yay!

The high temperature at CRHS was 64° today. Much warmer than usual temperatures across the western United States. Check this out!

Not much change to the forecast from yesterday, except possibly more snow. The Winter Weather Advisory (issued by the NWS Boise) for the Magic Valley is in effect from midnight until 11:00 am Wednesday. Snow totals from 4"-6" are possible. Get those shovels ready!

Beautiful sunset tonight at CRHS. It’s going to be a cold night, lows will get near 0° by sunrise. And a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from midnight Tuesday until 11:00 am Wednesday. Expect 2-4” of snow. A warming trend is expected as the week continues.

In case you didn't know, Canyon Ridge HS has a weather camera. It has its up and downs, and sometimes the image will freeze up for 24 hours, not sure why. But it is a good source for a current weather view when it is working. Be sure to refesh.

Not much has changed since yesterday, the Winter Storm Warning runs from 2:00 PM Saturday until 5:00 AM Sunday. Both the Magic and Treasure Valley could see 6-12 inches of snow. Stay home, keep warm and enjoy! Warmer weather is on tap in the 8-14 day extended outlook. 🙂

Update for new snow totals. And it’s a lot!

🤔 How much snow can you expect with round 2 tonight and tomorrow? Take a look! These values represent our deterministic forecast, and may not account for local variations in snowfall. Snow will reach the Snake Plain around 12-2pm tomorrow.

**Blizzard Warning** The US National Weather Service Boise Idaho has issued a blizzard warning for the Magic Valley from 5:00 pm this afternoon until 5:00 am Saturday. I haven't seen a blizzard warning for this area in a long time. Things may change with snow totals, but as of now, 4-6 inches can be expected with very strong winds, some possibly reaching 50 mph. Whiteout conditions are likely, and travel is not advised unless it's an emergency. Along with the snow and wind, there will be dangerous wind chills due to the arctic front moving through the region. Stay indoors!
I will also say, there might be some timing issues with the front and it's location as it moves south. Some places might only see a few inches, and others may get nearly a foot of snow. A break in the snow is possible Friday night, before more falls on Saturday.

**Winter Storm Warning** From 5:00 am Saturday to 11:00 pm Saturday. An additional 3-7 inches of snow may fall in the Magic Valley.

The long range outlook. Not good if you like snow. It will be interesting to see if this forecast model changes or not.

Twin Falls and Stanley taking top honors for a cold Monday morning! The snow on the ground in TF is a major factor.

🥶🧥Temperatures will be cold again Monday morning! It will be coldest in areas where snow is covering the ground, including the Magic Valley where temperatures have already dropped into the single digits in some spots. Patchy fog will also develop overnight.

Now the US National Weather Service Boise Idaho has issued a winter storm warning for all of Twin Falls, Jerome and Gooding Counties through 5 AM on Friday {11/24/2023} morning. The NWS out of Boise is anticipating 4-8" of snow for Gooding, Jerome and Twin Falls Counties, while the NWS out of Pocatello is expecting 6-10" of snow for the area in pink within Cassia, Minidoka, Blaine and Power Counties.

Can't emphasize enough how sloppy the roads and overall weather has the potential to become the afternoon hours on Thanksgiving/Thursday! Take it slow on the roads and give yourself plenty of extra time!!! It isn't going to be a great day of travel around Southern Idaho!!

Still on track for snow in the Magic Valley.

🦃⚠️ What was "Magic Valley may see a white Thanksgiving" became a Winter Weather Advisory for that area. Some models even hint at the possibility for snow to be seen near or in Boise. PLEASE plan your travel around the forecast, especially if travelling overnight.

Happy Thanksgiving! And enjoy the snow for those of you in the Magic Valley. As you can see, the potential for 2-4 inches exists. Drive safe if you are traveling.

Enjoying those cooler temperatures? Not just yet! A gradual warming trend is on the way, and could last through the end of the month. 😎

You know Halloween is getting closer when you see a satellite image like this.
