Big shoutout to Hefty Seed Company for hosting the 2026 AgriVision Field Day in Filer yesterday. Both sections of our AGRI 104 Ag Management class attended and students made multiple connections with the business and organizations present. Thank you to all the vendors for engaging with our Golden Eagles!

The AGRI 240 Forage Crops students successfully swathed the third cutting of alfalfa at the Breckenridge Endowment Farm during class this morning. Students were able to operate two types of swathers and compare the results. What a great learning opportunity on the second day of class!

Mr. Marc Harm brings a wealth of knowledge to our Department!

Faculty Friday: Marc Harm, Program Manager and Assistant Professor of Food Processing Technology

Marc Harm brings more than 20 years of food industry experience into the classroom at CSI. Before joining CSI five years ago, Marc worked in roles including Production Manager, Operations Manager, Plant Manager, and with the USDA, giving him plenty of real-world experience to pull from when teaching students.

As Program Manager and Assistant Professor of Food Processing Technology, Marc helps prepare students for leadership positions throughout the food industry. Students learn about food quality and safety, production leadership, process improvement, and workplace safety while also working toward industry certifications.

Marc describes his teaching style as very experiential. He uses situations from his own career as case studies and has students create the same types of projects and materials they may encounter in the workplace. His goal is for students to leave with more than knowledge or a certificate. He wants them to have work they can showcase and the confidence to put what they've learned into practice.

One of Marc's favorite parts of teaching is seeing students reach the goals they came into the program with. He says students in the program are dedicated and focused, and he enjoys watching them take what they've learned and turn it into career opportunities.

Outside of CSI, Marc enjoys traveling throughout the U.S. and will have visited 43 of the 50 states after this summer. Something students might not expect? Most weekends, he's playing Dungeons & Dragons over Zoom with a group spread across several states.

His advice to students: show up, get help, and don't procrastinate.
