“It’s so hard!”
“This is hard!”
“How do you take these out?!”
Child psychologists have founds that when children are struggling and adults say things that *seem* helpful, like “You can do it!” it can actually have a negative effect. Children can feel invalidated because it IS hard for them, or cause pressure and anxiety.
🧠
Listen to what happens when instead we use language that validates:
“I can see that it’s hard!”
“You’re having to use muscle and strength!”
Within minutes, students are reflecting on the positive aspects of their efforts, even before they reach the desired outcome (here it’s splitting a gourd wide open!) They’re telling us strong four and five years olds are… and they’re right! Four and five year olds are intensely resilient humans, and we love to see what they’re capable of.

Enrollment is open, and we have plentiful scholarship spaces. Come join our crew of determined 3 to 6 year olds… we want your creativity!
