Yates continued his 2026 Camp Reunion and Movie Show tour in three more states this week! Thank you to the families in New Orleans, Palm Beach, and Denver who joined us. It was fun to reunite with the camp community & meet new families.

📝 Check out today’s blog (fallingcreek.com/blog) to read more about who was there!

Huge thank you to Meredith & Cole Claibourne, Jennifer and Chris Lazzara, and Catharine and Mike Whipple for hosting in their cities. Next week, Yates will be in Texas and New York - we hope to see you there!

Meredith & Cole Claibourne hosted the Falling Creek Camp Movies & Reunion in their beautiful New Orleans home. Their son Brooks is returning to camp. He’s a second generation camper, as his dad Cole was a main camper in 1995.

The Claibournes are pictured with their dog in the foreground and then camp doctor Elizabeth Bucher and Will Marsiglia in the background.

Larry Johnson (camper ’08-’15, STEEL ’18) is pictured with his mother Maria Johnson. Maria and Noel Johnson (who was a camper himself in ‘82) used to host the NOLA movies.

Jon Atkinson (staff ’03, ’06) and Allison Atkinson came to reconnect, and their son is interested in coming to Falling Creek.

Thomas Peters (camper ’86-’92) was in Yates’ cabin in 1986 and he and his son are looking to come to a Father/Son Weekend.

Sam M. (camper ’21-’27) and Will Marsiglia (camper ’19, ’21-’25). We’re excited that Will applied to serve as a counselor in 2027!

On Wednesday, October 14th, Yates headed over to Florida where Jennifer & Chris Lazzara hosted in their beautiful Palm Beach home. We’re excited that their son Caleb is returning to camp in 2027 too!

The boys enjoyed eating pizza and playing soccer while families were arriving.

Yates with camp legend Tim Skelly (camper ’76-’83, staff ’88-’89, ’92) whose son Tommy (camper ’06-’11, HUCK ’12) also attended FCC.

Yates and Tim were on paddling staff together in the 80s.

Chris shared with the families how Falling Creek has positively impacted he and Jennifer’s three sons.

Thank you Palm Beach!

On Thursday, October 15th, Catharine & Mike Whipple hosted our very first camp movie show and reunion in Denver, Colorado! This coming sum

: “As parents, you hope your kids find places that help them grow in ways you never could at home. Falling Creek Camp has been one of those places for our son. Watching him tackle rock climbing isn’t just about reaching the top - it’s about building confidence, trusting himself, embracing challenges, and discovering that he’s capable of more than he imagined.

Those lessons will stay with him long after camp ends. I’m so thankful for experiences that help shape who he’s becoming.”

- Ashley T., ‘21-‘27 parent from Coral Gables, Florida 📩

The last two stops for this week’s Camp Reunions and Movie Shows were in Vienna and Alexandria, Virginia!

➡️ You can read all about the week’s travel at fallingcreek.com/blog

Thank you to Julie & Mike Holmes and Ashlee & Jeff Morehouse for hosting at your beautiful homes.

Photo 1: In Vienna, it was so fun to reconnect with some alumni including John Holmes, Mike’s brother. Mike and John were campers together from ‘86-‘89, and now Mike’s son Bradley is a camper himself (‘22-‘27).

Photo 2: JR Wallace (camper ’12, ’15-’19, STEEL ’20, staff ’22-’24) has been enjoying the opportunity to work for Ernst & Young accounting in the DC area, and we appreciated him coming to reconnect with FCC families!

Photo 4: Bradley is enjoying a dish of Falling Creek’s famous “Frito Pie”!

Photo 6: It was a great turnout in Alexandria on Thursday.

Photo 7: Yates, Hayes Orr (camper ’13-’15, DASH counselor ’22), Parker Spence (camper ’17-’19, ’21-’26, ’27 STEEL), Jane Spence

Photo 8: Mace Hood (camper ’12-’18, DASH counselor ’22, staff ’23) ) and Winn C. (camper ’18-’19, ’21-’25)

Thank you to all of the families who took time out of their busy schedules to attend. It was a good mix of returning families and those who are new to Falling Creek.

🗺️ Next stops? New Orleans, Palm Beach, and Denver next week!

Wallace Blum (‘18-’19, ‘21-’22 camper) completed a solo 2000 mile bike ride from Belfast, Maine to Key West, Florida, while raising over $20,000 for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation!

🚲 He started from his home in Maine on August 11th, 2026, and finished the journey on September 14th, just one day before flying out to begin his freshman year at Santa Clara University. He dedicated the ride to his mother, Ramsey, who died in 2015 after a fight with breast cancer. Wallace’s father and his brother Finn (‘10-’11,‘18-’19, ‘21 camper) surprised him at the finish line.

In Wallace’s words, he wanted this trip to combine adventure and advocacy. His initial goal was to raise $10,000 for BCRF, but after a donor pledged to match the first $10,000 he increased the goal to $40,000. Wallace has currently raised an incredible $23,649 for Breast Cancer Research, and donations are open and ongoing!

This week is the first of this year’s Camp Reunion and Movie Show travel schedule! Yates’ first stops were Raleigh, North Carolina on Monday, and Richmond, Virginia yesterday.

In this first photo, thank you to Gardner and Duncan Gibson, for hosting at their beautiful home in Raleigh. Their sons Charlie and Yates Gibson were a big help in getting everything set up!

Photo 2: The boys played games and enjoyed a pizza dinner in the backyard while everyone was arriving to the event.

Photo 3: Ransom Albertson (‘15-‘24 camper, ‘26 staff), who is a freshman at Duke University, and Luke Morris, who is a sophomore at NCSU. Luke is from Hendersonville and served on staff at a Father/Son Weekend this past year.

Photo 4: Jack (‘18-‘27 camper), Kara Cardinale, and James (‘20-‘27 camper). Kara is on the Pass the Light Fund committee, which provides camp scholarships to deserving boys who otherwise couldn’t afford the Falling Creek experience.

Photo 5: Henry (‘26-‘27 camper) and John Cathcart. John and his brother Scott were campers and counselors at FCC in the 80s and 90s.

Photo 6: Eli (‘24-‘27 camper) and Joe Baden, Andrew (‘21-‘27 camper) and Chris Todd

Thank you for a fun evening, Raleigh!

Photo 8: Thank you Massie & Ben Cooper, for hosting everyone in the Richmond area at your beautiful home! This group photo includes all the boys as well as dads who have come to Father/Son Weekend.

Thank you for celebrating the life of Steve Longenecker with us this past Saturday, whether you were there in person or in spirit.

Garrett Randolph shared his original song about Steve, “Down South Again.” An excerpt says:

“Down in the trees or up on the granite
You saw the planet as we should
Some of the what, the why and the wherefore
Something to care for, something good

When we are older here where it’s colder
We’ll long to hear your banjo ring
I will be yearning down by the burning
Fires to talk, to laugh and sing”

Thank you to alumnus Vince Green for his photography skills in capturing the memorial. Alumni, you can find these photos posted in the Alumni Facebook group.

Today’s spotlight is on the paddling program! 🛶

Whitewater kayaking, lake canoeing, and every kind of paddling in between - you can do it all at Falling Creek! At camp we support “challenge by choice,” where boys are encouraged to work up to more challenging rivers according to both their interest and increasing skill level.
