Dr. Sue, The Bug Lady Dr. Sue’s Traveling Insect & Arthropod Zoo provides educational and inspiring science enrichment programs for students of all ages.

Over the last 25 years, Dr. Sue has inspired more than 3 million people with her dynamic and educational Arthropod Zoo. Using live specimens, puppets, models and interactive hand-movements, Dr. Sue teaches about insects and their arthropod relatives: crustaceans, millipedes, centipedes and arachnids. Students will meet Giant Black African Millipedes, hermit crabs, Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, V

ietnamese Walking Sticks, crickets, various species of beetles, and other insects. Dr. Sue also has an impressive collection of arachnids including, a Chilean Rose Hair Tarantula, Emperor Scorpions, Black Widow Spiders, and many more. Dr. Sue's Arthropod Zoo has been a featured exhibit at the Santa Ana Zoo and the Discovery Science Center in Anaheim. Her creatures have also made appearances in Hollywood films and on television. Hi everyone,

Just a reminder to join us this evening at the Santa Ana Zoo for a tribute to Dr. Sue. Beginning at about 5pm, we will gather near Dr. Sue's Bug Hut to share stories, pictures, and memories.

A memorial gathering is planned for Sunday August 21, 2016 at the Santa Ana Zoo at 5pm. Please park in general zoo parking and enter through the main gate. Additional details will be posted to this page as they become finalized.

If you have any photos or stories that can be shared at the memorial, please email them to [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the Santa Ana Zoo in Dr. Sue’s name.

I am heartbroken to share that Dr. Sue the Bug Lady passed away today. She counted the opportunity to have taught so many families the greatest purpose in her life. We were lucky to have had such a selfless educator share her light with all of us, but I know that she would have said that she was the lucky one. She was Susan to many, she was Mom to me, but I know that to most people, she will always be Dr. Sue. Please hug a bug in her honor!
