🌟 Meet Our New Nelson PALS Team! 🌟

We are so excited to introduce our newest PALS: Gianna, Crystal, Leah, Melinda, Sarah, Daryilyn, Emily, Liyana, Amilia, Cadence, and Bella! 🐯💙

PALS stands for Peer Assistance Leadership. These student leaders help create a welcoming, inclusive, and connected school community by supporting their peers, modeling kindness, and helping other students feel like they belong.

A special thank you to our amazing PALS advisers, Ms. Castillo and Ms. Rodriguez, for guiding and supporting our student leaders! 💙

We are so proud of these Tigers for stepping up to lead and make a positive IMPACT at Nelson. We can’t wait to see all the ripples of kindness they create this year! 🌊

Jots with Jen are little micro-PDs designed to focus on just one thing from our new curriculum, Math or ELA. Small focus. Practical learning. Something teachers can use right away!

Today was all about math! ➕✖️ Our teachers who joined us after school had time to build their math binders, get organized, and prepare for the next unit.

🧠💬 Extending Our Moves Across the Day!

This month, our Nelson staff has been focusing on SMP 3: Construct Viable Arguments & Critique the Reasoning of Others and MLR 7: Compare & Connect.

During today’s staff meeting, our teachers took those strategies beyond the math block! Teams collaborated, shared ideas, and thought creatively about how students can explain their thinking, compare ideas, make connections, and respond to the thinking of others across different content areas. 💭💡

We’re continuing to build on—not add on—to the great work already happening in our classrooms. 💙🐯

📚🐯 PBIS points in action!

Today, 3rd grader Valerie used her PBIS points for a very special reward. She got to be the guest reader in Ms. Dunning’s TK class! 💙❤️

What made it even sweeter? Valerie’s little sister is in the class, so she got to listen along as her big sister read to her and her classmates. 🥰📖

We love seeing our Tigers use their PBIS points for experiences that build confidence, leadership, and connections across our campus.

🔴🔵🟡 DOTS were everywhere at Nelson today! 🟢🟣🟠

We had so much fun celebrating International Dot Day across campus! From creative activities and colorful outfits to finding ways to “make our mark,” our Tigers embraced the spirit of the day. 🐯✨

And Ms. Martinez’s class even took their dots to the pickleball court! 🏓 They had a blast learning and playing together. Apparently pickleballs count as dots too! 😂

International Dot Day is such a great reminder for our students to be creative, be brave, try something new, and make their mark on the world.

🧞✨ CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR ALADDIN CAST! ✨🧞

We are SO proud of our Nelson Tigers! 💜💛

After lots of preparation, hard work, courage, and some AMAZING auditions, we are thrilled to announce the cast of our Disney Musicals in Schools production of Aladdin! 🎭🌟

Auditioning takes courage, and our students truly showed up and gave it their all. We were blown away by their talent, enthusiasm, and willingness to take a chance and step onto that stage!

Congratulations to every student who earned a spot in our cast. Now the real adventure begins! 🌟

🎭 Roles will be announced at our first rehearsal on Tuesday, and we cannot wait to get started!

We are incredibly proud of you, Tigers! 🐯💜
