AARON JAMES GAVE HIS BEST TO MOTHER TUSKEGEE
A Personal Tribute to a Golden Tiger
By Frank H. Lee
Long before Aaron James became Tuskegee University’s head football coach, I saw something special in the young freshman quarterback. I knew his connection to Mother Tuskegee would extend far beyond his playing days.
I watched Aaron grow from a talented student-athlete into a four-year starter, a gentleman and a leader. As the longtime voice of the Golden Tiger Sports Network, I had the privilege of calling his name and following his journey.
I often told Aaron he would one day return to Tuskegee as a coach. Years later, he fulfilled that prediction.
Though his tenure ended sooner than expected, Aaron’s accomplishments and commitment cannot be erased. He came home, accepted one of the most demanding jobs in HBCU football and gave Tuskegee his best.
One season or final record cannot define his lifelong connection to Mother Tuskegee—as a student-athlete, quarterback, alumnus, coach and head football coach.
Aaron, thank you for the memories, your service and for coming home. Your time as head coach may have ended, but your place in the Tuskegee football family has not.
Once a Golden Tiger, always a Golden Tiger.
Godspeed, Coach James. Your next chapter is waiting.
