Today, UAH welcomed members of the North Alabama legislative delegation to campus for an update on the university's continued growth and impact. President Don Leo and other university leaders shared how UAH's strong foundation of academic excellence, thriving campus experience and culture of technology and innovation continue to strengthen Huntsville, North Alabama and the entire state.

June brought a full slate of conversations and connections for the University of Alabama System Capitol Scholars. ⤵️

Scholars met with all members of the Alabama congressional delegation, gaining perspective on public service and their work on behalf of the state of Alabama.

The group also met with the Alabama Business Coalition, Protective Life Corporation, Alabama Power, American Enterprise Institute, Dux Group and C5 Capital to explore the intersection of business, policy and advocacy. An Alabama delegation staffer panel led by Representative Barry Moore’s office gave scholars a closer look at careers on Capitol Hill, while a networking event hosted by Southern Company opened additional professional connections with UA System alumni and supporters of the Capitol Scholars Program.

An unforgettable experience for the University of Alabama System Capitol Scholars. Tours of the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court and Pentagon, offered a closer look at leadership and national security, connecting classroom concepts to real-world settings.

As guests of the Chambers of Justice Thomas of the Supreme Court, scholars attended the release of opinions gaining a rare window into the work of the nation’s highest court.

In addition to organizing tours of the White House and The People’s House, UA alumnus and President of the White House Historical Association, Stewart McLaurin, hosted the Capitol Scholar farewell luncheon. We appreciate his hospitality and commitment to supporting the program.

Announcing the Alabama Business Hall of Fame Class of 2026!

The inductees are Mr. William (Billy) P. Ainsworth, Mr. J. Frank Barefield Jr.; Ms. Bobby A. Bradley; Mr. John F. Croyle; the late Mr. Corbin Day; Mr. James Thomas (Tom) Hill; and Mr. Scott Phelps.

The Alabama Business Hall of Fame, established in 1973, honors individuals who have brought lasting fame to the state of Alabama through their business contributions.

The University of Alabama System Capitol Scholars kicked off their summer internship program in Washington, D.C. with a series of high-impact engagements focused on policy, leadership and public service.

Throughout the month, students connected with leaders from Alabama and UA System alumni at the White House, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Bipartisan Policy Center and RAND Corporation and attended a reception hosted by Venture Government Strategies, gaining a deeper understanding of opportunities across governmental affairs.
