During this meeting, we will be hosting an important guest speaker: the UA Psychology Department Chair, Dr. Thompson Davis! He will be speaking on the importance of research and what a career in psychology looks like. Be sure to not miss this opportunity!

Interested in learning more about IBM SPSS Statistics? This upcoming Wednesday, the Psychology Research Think Tank will be hosting our Founder, Dr. Darren George, for a one hour workshop on how to use SPSS software. The workshop will be in PYB-1002 at 5:30 PM and is open to all students and faculty!

In one hour, Dr. George will get you started on the program that is the world standard for data analysis in universities around the world. You will learn how to:

1. Create and format data files
2. Enter data
3. Create graphs: bar, histogram, pie, scatter plots
4. Basic analyses: psychometrics, frequencies, t-tests, correlations

Dr. George has authored the world standard on the use of SPSS, His book is now in its 18th edition and has been an international best seller for three decades.

In this meeting, we will update members on the status of two current studies: Friendship Need Fulfillment and Physical Attractiveness as an Interpretive Filter.

Additionally, Dr. George will describe a future event (that will take place on February 25): a one-hour session on how to access and use SPSS: the most frequently used statistical software worldwide and the primary tool with which the Think Tank does data analysis.

It's time for another Executive spotlight!

Diego Hernandez is the Secretary of the Psychology Research Think Tank. He is an experienced researcher involved in two projects, and is a 1st author on one of them. He has served on the executive board since his election in spring 2025.

As Secretary, Diego keeps track of our roster, member attendance, and email list. Individuals wishing to join that email list are encouraged to contact Diego. He would also be thrilled to discuss the Think Tank and its research with you!
