From deepfake scams to virtual reality digital twins, National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education Center (NCITE) researchers are helping practitioners understand how emerging AI technologies can be used – and misused.

Dr. Allen Johnston of Culverhouse, along with colleagues from the University of Oklahoma, led a nearly seven-hour workshop on deepfake technologies with security practitioners that combined teaching, demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and guided discussions.

From the pool to the podium, Sydney Blackhurst is making waves! 👏

Congratulations to Sydney, a senior accounting major and a member of The University of Alabama's swimming and diving team, for earning first place in the SEC Startup Competition with her business, Beyond Barriers Swim.

Beyond Barriers Swim Foundation provides one-on-one adaptive swim lessons for children with chronic illnesses and disabilities. Sydney's $10,000 prize will help bring her vision to even more families.

Congratulations, Sydney, on this incredible achievement and for inspiring others through innovation and entrepreneurship.

As you start a new semester and look ahead to your future, remember: you don’t have to have everything figured out just yet.

Culverhouse alumni Sara Gresham and Jackson Williams, both with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, shared the career advice they wish they had known at 22, from taking chances to learning from experiences that don’t go as planned.

Their biggest advice?
⭐️ Say yes to opportunities
⭐️ Try new things (even if you’re unsure)
⭐️ Build relationships that last
⭐️ Don’t be afraid to change your path
