The Alberta School of Performing Arts (TASPA) is a part of the Tuscaloosa City Schools (TCS) and offers K-8 students a curriculum placing the visual and performing arts at the center of student learning. The school embraces a trans-disciplinary model of education with a focus on developing creativity and critical thinking skills. At the Alberta School of Performing Arts, the arts serve as a tool in constructing the academic, artistic, and social growth of students. In addition to meeting standards of the TCS curriculum, TASPA students in the primary grads K-3 receive regular exposure to a variety of art forms including dance, theatre, visual art and music. Students attending TASPA in the intermediate grades 4 and 5 begin to focus on a particular art form as they expand their creative abilities. Middle school students in grades 6-8 experience a deep immersion in their fine arts specialties in addition to a rigorous, arts-infused core curriculum.

Who doesnā€™t love a good surprise?! We had a special visitor at TASPA today! Keelon Russell stopped by to see his ā€œlittle brother,ā€ Demonte!

We love seeing our students surrounded by positive role models who take the time to show up, encourage them, and support them.

Keelon also took a moment to celebrate the joy of reading, inspiring our young readers both on and off the field! šŸ“ššŸˆā¤ļøšŸ˜

TASPA, letā€™s GREEN OUT on tomorrow, Thursday, September 24! šŸ’š

In honor of Start With Hello Week, students and staff are encouraged to wear green as we continue spreading a message of kindness, connection, and belonging throughout our school.

Green represents hope, kindness, and new beginnings, and wearing it is one simple way we can show that everyone deserves to feel seen, included, and welcomed.

So grab your green and help us remind everyone that sometimes making a difference starts with one simple word: HELLO! šŸ‘‹šŸ’š
