Turning trash into treasure!

Our students have been putting their creativity to work by transforming recycled and everyday items into something brand new! Students even turned used water bottles into beautiful recycled flowers!

From cardboard and bottles to boxes and other materials, students have been using their imaginations to design, build, and create. We love seeing them discover that a little creativity can give old things a whole new purpose!

Ms. Williams and the first grade students explored the traditional Ojo de Dios (Eye of God) weaving art form with roots in Indigenous Mexican culture.

Students created their own colorful woven designs while learning about cultural traditions, patterns, and artistic expression.

We love providing opportunities for our students to learn about and appreciate different cultures through the arts!

International Dot Day has passed, but our students are still celebrating by putting their creativity on display! From colorful dots to unique works of art, our young artists had the opportunity to create, explore, and express themselves in their own special way.

We love giving our students opportunities to use their imagination, take creative risks, and discover that even the smallest idea can become something amazing.

Today, our PreK and Kindergarten students kicked off their first Color Me Healthy lesson with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System!

Color Me Healthy uses color, music, movement, and exploration of the senses to help young learners discover how to make healthy food choices while learning that physical activity can be fun. Through hands-on experiences involving touch, smell, sight, sound, and taste, our students get to learn, explore, and move!

We are excited for our students to continue this experience and grateful for community partners who help us provide meaningful learning opportunities that support the whole child beyond the school day!

Cheers to good behavior & good progress reports!

Ms. Powell’s 7th and 8th grade students had a sweet reason to celebrate! They enjoyed ice cream floats as a reward for making positive behavior choices and showing great progress in the classroom.

We love celebrating our students and encouraging them to keep working hard, making good choices, and leveling up! 🌟

Mrs. Edison’s 2nd grade students read My Mouth Is a Volcano! and discussed what can happen when we have big feelings or act before thinking. Together, they explored SEL strategies for managing their emotions, controlling impulses, and making positive choices when they feel like they might erupt.

Then, they brought their learning to life! Students created their own volcanoes and used baking soda and vinegar to watch them erupt.

This hands-on activity was a fun reminder that while a volcano may erupt, we can learn strategies to keep our emotions from doing the same! Students practiced thinking about ways to pause, calm down, and respond appropriately when experiencing big emotions.

Learning beyond the bell means supporting the whole child, academically, socially, and emotionally.
