Ken Smith "Francis Asbury Award" Banquet - Bama Wesley On June 8, we will be recognizing former Alabama Wesley Director, Ken Smith, as he is this year’s recipient of the Francis Asbury Award! Alumni from his years are encouraged to attend this special celebration at the Wesley building (505 9th Street).

Everyone is welcome to come celebrate with our 2024 Francis Asbury Award recipient, Ken Smith! The Francis Asbury Award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to fostering United Methodist ministries in higher education. The award celebration luncheon will be held at Wesley Foundation from Noon – 2pm on Saturday, June 8. There will be time to eat, hear about highlights from Ken’s ministry, and learn about what Wesley Foundation is like now. Best of all, we will all get a chance to visit with Ken and other Wesley alumni and friends!

Lunch payment and event registration links will be open on the home page of bamawesley.org starting Monday, May 13. We’ll drop a reminder here when registration opens.

There will also be a Francis Asbury Award presentation at the North Alabama UMC Annual Conference that meets from May 30-June 1. That ceremony will include Ken-centric pictures and videos submitted by alumni. The conference video will be shared again at our Tuscaloosa gathering. Details about submitting are in the captions of this post.

Some of you can still trace important moments in your life, like becoming a Christian or meeting a spouse, to the Wesley Foundation. I’m happy to say that this is the kind of ministry impact we still enjoy at Wesley today."
