UA Student Government Association

UA Student Government Association The official page for The University of Alabama Student Government Association. With your help, we can transform our UA campus into a UA community.

It is the driving goal of SGA to create a student government that works for and works with every student on campus. In order for SGA to truly be effective, we need to hear valuable input from every student. Let us know what your needs and concerns are, and we will work tirelessly to find a solution. The purpose of SGA is not to be above the students but rather about the students.

Want to make a difference in our community for just a few dollars?

This week, give $5–$10 to United Way of West Alabama and earn 5 Greek points!

Your gift helps provide vital support to 30 non-profit partner agencies across West Alabama. One in four people in West Alabama are impacted by United Way agencies, including Tuscaloosa One Place, Caring Days, Boys and Girls Club, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Greek Programming Board, SGA, and leaders from across campus challenge every student to show up for West Alabama the way this community shows up for us.

Learn more about the impact your gift makes at uwwa.org, and visit the link in our bio to give!

This week is Capstone Creed week!

Since 2000, the Creed has guided us with knowledge, fairness, respect, civic responsibility, and excellence. Each day next week, SGA’s Judicial Board and UA Student Conduct are hosting events designed to highlight each of the principles.

Come celebrate what it means to live out the Capstone Creed together!

“As a member of The University of Alabama community, I will pursue knowledge; act with fairness, integrity, and respect; embrace and uphold the dignity of all; foster individual and civic responsibility; and strive for excellence in all I do.”

Keep our community clean and earn service hours through Saving the Tides!

Join SGA, along with UA Environmental Council and UA Crew Club, to support our community by picking up trash around our campus community. Saving the Tides is a two-day sustainability initiative, and volunteers will be eligible to earn service hours through BamaPulse.

Day 1 of this event will take place at the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk on September 18 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. We will be picking up trash to beautify the area around Manderson Landing and the shores of the Black Warrior River.

Day 2 of this event will be a collaborative clean-up with UA Facilities at Bryant-Denny Stadium’s student organization seating area on September 19th. Volunteers will re-enter the stadium following our home game vs. FSU to pick up trash until 7:30 PM. Gloves and bags will be provided courtesy of UA Facilities.

Please register through the link in our bio to help keep Tuscaloosa beautiful!

Looking back at August at The Capstone!

From embracing campus traditions to welcoming students back to campus, August was a month centered around connection, community, and service. We celebrated College Colors Day with Governor Kay Ivey, collaborated at SGA 101, connected with fellow Alabama student leaders at the 2026 STARS Conference, and met students at Hi Tide Day, Get On Board Day, and Script A.

This year is already off to an amazing start! We can’t wait to see what else this year has in store. Roll Tide!
