🤗🍀🤗 So excited for Foster to begin his next chapter at The University of Alabama!

Congratulations to John Foster Ratliff from Tuscaloosa County for receiving an Alabama 4-H Club Foundation Scholarship! 🎓🍀🌟 John Foster is to attend the University of Alabama to earn a degree in neuroscience!

"4-H is more than an extracirricular activity. It has shaped my leadership, education, and commitment to community. As I move into the next chapter of my life, I am committed to carrying forward the values of 4-H and giving back to future generations." - John Foster Ratliff

What a pleasure to take three awesome Alabama 4-H’ers to the Nick's Kids Foundation Giveaway Luncheon and represent the Alabama 4-H Club Foundation!

Coach Saban and Ms. Terry do so much to support organizations that exist to help children. Not only do they support youth development, education, and healthcare, but they also inspire everyone else to pitch in and help.

Elan, Michael, and Kate met so many people, including the Sabans, and were true ambassadors for Alabama 4-H. As their 4-H Agent, I was so proud and happy to be there with them today!

Coach Saban shared that this is his favorite day of the year, and I believe it. He and Ms. Terry are genuinely happy to meet these children, and it’s obvious they believe in community!

A highlight today was hearing Ms. Terry hearing Michael was entering 7th grade. She said, “Oh, that’s an important year. You know that’s when I met Nick at 4-H camp!!”

Thanks again for a great day, Nick’s Kids Foundation!♥️

Today begins the NEW 2026-2027 4-H CLUB YEAR! We have some exciting plans this year, and we will be announcing those soon!

But, first, I want to share that our Rabbit Club is transitioning into the "HOPS & HOBBIES" Club. Mrs. Jennifer will still be our volunteer leader, and we hope the established members will continue to participate. Last year, the members took on some activities and projects that were not directly related to their rabbits, and we want to continue that this year.

Members can still bring rabbits if they want to, but there will be a bigger focus on projects, arts & crafts, and how to pursue leadership skills through your interests. Members will have the opportunity to work on 4-H Competitive Events Projects, with the option to enter in contests. (Competing is not required.)

Mrs. Jen has some fun activities planned for the meeting September 3, so we need families to register ASAP.

v2.4Honline.com and choose "4-H Hops & Hobbies" as your club. You can register for other clubs as well, but be sure you choose this one. Rabbit Club will not be an option.

More information and meeting dates for all clubs will be coming out in the next two weeks. It's going to be a great year!!!

These pictures are terrifying to me. My husband and I have two teenage drivers and, I have tons of 4-H’ers who are driving or will be soon.

Flash floods don’t happen often, and I am guilty of breezing over those alerts. But, let’s all take a few minutes with our families and discuss safety protocols in cases of less frequent severe weather.

We are cheering for Lydia, Bethany, Ellyn, & their horses this week as they travel to Perry, Georgia and compete in the 4-H Southern Regionals Horse Show. Bringing blue ribbons home would be awesome, but we are really excited to hear about all the memories you make and lessons you learn. I know you will all represent Tuscaloosa County and Alabama 4-H well!

We are asking community members to join active 4-H Families in collecting books for the Literacy Council of West Alabama to help stock their "Little Libraries" around West Alabama.

4-H'ers can bring books to meetings this fall or drop by the Tuscaloosa County - Alabama Extension office in Midtown.
