🎶 Making music. Making connections. Making an impact. 🎶

The Alberta School of Performing Arts music teacher Korynn Hill is bringing energy, connection and engagement to her classroom—and her dedication has earned her the Edward H. Cleino Young Music Educator Award from the Alabama Music Educators Association. 🏆

Just four years into her teaching career, Korynn was surprised by the honor after being nominated by her former University of Alabama professor, Dr. Anne C. Witt.

Korynn says she wants to make a positive impact on her students and help them discover something within themselves they didn't know they had. She believes music is a language everyone can speak, and she's passionate about sharing that language with her students. ❤️🎵

🌎👋 Hello can sound different, but its message is universal!

As part of Start With Hello Week, students at Rock Quarry Elementary School learned how to say “hello” in many different languages. With students representing a variety of cultures and countries, it was a fun way to celebrate the school’s diversity while learning how to make everyone feel welcome and included. 💙

Start With Hello Week, an initiative of Sandy Hook Promise, encourages students to reach out, build connections and help create a school community where everyone feels like they belong.

Sometimes, creating a connection starts with just two simple words: Hello! 👋

💙 Start With Hello Week is all about making sure everyone feels seen, welcomed and included.

Students at University Place Elementary School are learning what it means to be an upstander and reflecting on the ways they can stand up for others, show kindness and help create a more connected school community.

The annual initiative from Sandy Hook Promise encourages students to recognize the impact of social isolation and take meaningful steps to build a culture of belonging and inclusion. 🤝

Sometimes, making a difference can start with something as simple as saying hello. 👋

Schools throughout TCS are participating in these activities through Friday.

🎨🎶 Happy Arts in Education Week! 🩰🎭

As we close this week, we’re celebrating the incredible TCS arts teachers who inspire creativity, encourage self-expression, and help students discover their unique talents and abilities. Through art, music, dance, and theatre, these dedicated educators create meaningful opportunities for students to explore new ideas, build confidence, collaborate with others, and see the world from different perspectives.

The arts do more than enrich the classroom—they spark imagination, nurture passion, and create experiences that students carry with them far beyond the school day. We are grateful for the creativity, dedication, and heart our arts teachers bring to our schools each day.

Thank you for helping our students find their voices, share their gifts, and shine! 💙❤️
