My name is Dr. Sonya Pritzker, and I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Alabama. I am currently working on designing a research study on emotion, embodiment, and communication in everyday activism. Overall, the study is focused on understanding how the human body affects and is affected by everyday communication in the context of activist engagement, but in order to fully design this study, I am seeking feedback from people who are invested in understanding the intersection of embodiment, intimacy, and social justice and/or activism in other areas (eg environmental activism).

You do not have to be an expert to participate, though you certainly can be! Either way, I would love to hear about your personal experience as well as any expertise you may have in the subject.

Are you interested in participating? If so, participation can include an interview and/or answering a few short questions about your work and your thoughts on what kind of research is needed in your field. If you simply want to answer a few questions, you can provide answers anonymously and none of your personal information will be collected.

There is no compensation for your participation in the short survey. Should you consent to be interviewed, however, the conversation will take place remotely via Zoom. It will take about 30-60 minutes, and you will be compensated $50. All of your personal information will remain confidential.

This link will take you to a web page where you can learn more, sign up, and/or provide anonymous answers to several short questions. You can also reach the survey directly at https://universityofalabama.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5cmyMxBySYJtnrD

You can also email me directly at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.

If you aren’t able to participate at this time, I would be very grateful if you would help spread the word by sharing this invitation. Thank you!
