The College of Education consists of the department of Advanced Studies, Kinesiology, Liberal Studies, Social Work, and Teacher Education. The Liberal Studies major is designed to ensure a seamless transition to Multip

le Subject or Special Education credential programs. Kinesiology courses provide for students seeking a career in physical education, undertake graduate work, or complete pre-professional work in health and wellness fields such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, corporate wellness, public health and more. The educator preparation programs are located in the departments of Advanced Studies and Teacher Education. Our programs include initial credential programs leading to careers in elementary, secondary, and special education. Other credentials such as School Administration, School Counseling, and Reading, can be found in the department of Advanced Studies. In addition, you can find programs leading to a Master of Arts with several concentrations. The only doctoral level program on campus is also located in Advanced Studies. A Master of Social Work (MSW) prepares professional social workers to advance social justice and to meet the growing human service needs and satisfies the academic preparation requirements for the state regulated social work license (LCSW).

Great news! The Residency Program will continue to support the intellectual and social development of future teachers across the Central Valley region.
Great News! The Warriors Teach! Residency Program is launching the 2023-24 academic year with 10 new residents in Ceres Unified School District. Residents are carefully selected to develop their teaching skills with specially trained mentor teachers while engaging in preparation coursework. Each resident receives a $7500 stipend from Ceres USD. In addition, residents may apply for a $5000 scholarship from the CSU Residency Scholarship Program. This year, Stan State was awarded four scholarships for our residents, for a total of $20,000.

What a tremendous accomplishment! I am so proud of the outstanding academic achievements made by students who graduate from the College of Education, Kinesiology and Social Work. Not only does the Department of Teacher Education at Stan State University prepare future educators to improve educational achievements and break the persistence of inequity across and beyond the Central Valley region, but it one of the leading academic units across California and the United States for ensuring out students and their families' economic investment in their education parlays into employment upon graduation. It was a wonderful opportunity to afford students, teacher educators, and in-service teachers across the Central Valley region a tremendous learning opportunity today. The Department of Education, Kinesiology and Social Work hosted the 22nd annual Student to Teacher Conference. There were over 180 attendees at the in-person event held at Stan State University. After a tremendous keynote session conducted by Stan State’s own Dr. Ana York, attendees took part in a range of sessions dedicated to preparing culturally sustaining educators who are capable of fostering social justice and equity in K-12 schools across the Central Valley region.
