Today, Dutcher Diamondbacks met with Superintendent David Lattig and Principal Robert Ruiz for a Superintendent’s Student Senate. The students were excited about being able to share all the good things happening at Dutcher. Students praised Dutcher’s inclusive culture and how welcoming it is to have teachers greeting students at the door. Each student also highlighted a trusted staff member that they’ve built a connection with. Finally, cafeteria food is a big hit, with Burrito Bowls being everyone’s favorite. Artificial Intelligence is changing the way we learn, work, and prepare for the future—and it’s happening fast! Join us for a Family Information Night designed to help parents and families better understand what AI means for today’s students and tomorrow’s careers. We’ll explore the latest developments in AI, emerging trends in education, California state resources, and new college majors and programs focused on AI and related fields. We’ll also discuss what families should know as students prepare for college, careers, and a rapidly changing workforce. We’ll wrap up the evening with a Q&A session so you can get answers specific to your student’s future. Have a question now? Leave a comment. Please RSVP so we can plan for dinner. Did you make it out to the Reading Extravaganza today? Thank you to Reading Heart and Turlock Amazon MCEI for partnering for a great event to support literacy. Special thanks to Kiwanis of Greater Turlock for barbecuing 1,000 hotdogs and for all the community sponsors and attendees who made this event so amazing. Thank you to the many volunteers who helped make this event such a success. We can’t wait to do this again next year! 📚

Medeiros’ Superintendent Student Senate met with David yesterday for a conversation that was thoughtful, fun, and plenty of Star Pride! David quickly earned some “street cred” by connecting with students over shared interests, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and a love of history. One theme was clear: Medeiros students LOVE their teachers! Students gave shout-outs to their teachers’ energy, positivity, and care, sharing how they make learning exciting. A highlight was that every student reported having at least one trusted adult on campus, with several sharing that they have more than one. The Stars shared their favorite subjects, with math standing out as a clear favorite, as well as activities they enjoy and thoughtful ideas for making school even better. The conversation also focused on kindness, welcoming new students, and helping everyone feel included, with ideas for supporting sixth graders as they prepare for the transition to junior high. The visit wrapped up with a discussion about school lunch favorites. Nuggets, chocolate milk, and tamales earned rave reviews. Great job, Senate representatives! ❤️🤍💙💫

This morning, Walmart Store #1963 awarded the TUSD Family Resource Center a $2,500 grant to support our school community! Marie Russell, Director of Communications, and Administrative Assistant Angela Scott, were invited to attend the store’s Grand Opening Celebration. Pam Provino, People Lead at Wal-Mart shared, “We value the important work your district does for students and the community, and we would welcome the opportunity to support those efforts through our local giving initiatives.” Thank you, Wal-Mart! We are proud to celebrate these outstanding students who exemplify the character trait of Responsibility. Superintendent David Lattig recognized each student, who had the opportunity to share a little about themselves and their plans for the future.

At last night’s TUSD Board of Trustees meeting, Superintendent David Lattig gave a shout out to Principal Veronica Mikhail and the entire Brown Elementary School team on their new and innovative “Coffee with the Principal - On the Go” which kicked off on Tuesday. Principal Mikhail shared,

“Thank you to all of our families who stopped by for a cup of coffee and conversation. I had the opportunity to meet and connect with so many of you, and I truly appreciated the thoughtful questions, wonderful feedback, ideas, and conversations. We had an amazing turnout, and l am so grateful you took a few moments out of your morning to connect with us.
More than anything, I hope our families always know that we are partners in your child’s education. Your voice matters, your perspective matters, and when our school and families work together, our students benefit. Building those relationships and creating opportunities for us to connect is incredibly important to me.”
