🎓Grad Spotlight: Navneet Kaur
As a first-generation college student, Navneet Kaur’s journey to graduation is a story of determination, resilience and purpose.
After moving to the United States in 2015 with very little English, Navneet worked hard to build a future through education, becoming the first person in her family to pursue a professional career through higher education. This May, she graduated with a Master of Arts in School Administration and is already inspiring the next generation of students.
One of her favorite memories at Stan State is meeting her husband while they were both students. What began on campus grew into one of the most important relationships in her life, making Stan State a place that gave her not only an education and career opportunities, but also lifelong love and support. ❤️💛
As a teacher, Navneet was inspired to continue her education because she saw the impact strong school leaders can have on students. Her goal is to become an academic counselor, vice principal or principal and help students recognize the power of education. She hopes to serve as a role model, especially for Punjabi students who may not often see educators who look like them or share their language and experiences.
Her advice for future Warriors 🤔
“Take advantage of the support and resources available at Stan State. Keep advocating for yourself, stay focused on your goals and never be afraid to ask questions. Asking for help does not hurt you; it helps you grow. Most importantly, believe in yourself. I came to the United States with very little English, and if I can achieve my goals, you can too. You are capable of more than you think.”
Congratulations, Navneet! 🎉
