This is what tired looks like.
Helmet on. Heading back from a call. Long shift. Late getting off work.
I know this life because I live it too.
And it’s one of the reasons I talk so much about financial resiliency with first responders.
Overtime can be an incredible tool.
But every extra shift costs you something besides time.
Sleep.
Energy.
Time with your family.
Time to recover.
Sometimes just the ability to go home and do absolutely nothing.
So when you pick up that extra shift, I want you to know why you’re working it.
Is it moving you toward something you really want?
Or have you built a life that requires you to keep saying yes?
The goal isn’t to never work overtime.
The goal is to build enough financial resiliency that sometimes you can say:
No. I’m going home.
That’s what I mean when I say Break the OT Trap.
