The Lawndale Retriever staff is back and took time to journal, create a "beautiful oops", and write this year's staff social contract. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work together to serve our community and its most precious citizens. 💛 💙

Today, the Mississippi Department of Education provided an update to the State Board of Education regarding two new academic initiatives – the Mississippi Math Act and the Adolescent Literacy Initiative – for the 2026-27 school year.

To implement the Mississippi Math Act, MDE is currently working to strengthen mathematics instruction and support in grades 2-6. To implement the Adolescent Literacy Initiative, MDE is expanding reading support for students in grades 4-8. For more details, go to https://bit.ly/4bYbgHQ.
