Milam Elementary

Today in Mr. Norris' Science class at Milam Elementary, students conducted a STEM activity to learn about chemical reactions using an acid (vinegar) and a base (baking soda) mixed with a little soap and food coloring. The reaction releases CO2 and causes the gloves to expand with the bubbles from the soap, eventually oozing out of the glove that has had holes pricked in the finger tips. The anticipation and curiosity grow as students watch the reaction slowly begin to "fizz" out of the tops of the gloves. This activity not only combines ingredients, but also mixes in fun with learning.

We had the best time at our Color Wars games today! Red team won but we all had such a blast!

💙💛 Caught Being KIND at Milam! 💛💙

Today our hearts were so full! One of our sweet students was “caught” doing something incredibly thoughtful at the Book Fair. Instead of buying something for herself, she chose to purchase a book and a bookmark for her friend.

When asked why, she simply said she did it for her friend’s birthday and wanted to make sure she had something special to celebrate her day. 🥹📚

What a beautiful reminder that kindness is one of the best gifts we can give. We are so proud of the caring hearts we see in our Milam students every single day! 💙
