Hands-On Learning in our Medical Assistant Program! 🩺

Learning goes beyond the textbook in our Medical Assistant Program. During this interactive sensory activity, our Medical Assistant students explored how the five senses help us understand and experience the world around us.

Students put their senses to the test by identifying different tastes, recognizing scents, and exploring a variety of textures through touch.

Activities like this give students a deeper understanding of sensory experiences while helping them build the empathy, communication, and patient-care skills needed to better understand what patients are feeling and experiencing.

Making toothpaste from scratch? Yep, our Dental Assistant students did that! 🪥

As part of their Introduction to Pharmacology lesson, our Dental Assistant students got hands-on by making homemade toothpaste with baking soda, coconut oil, peppermint essential oil, and xylitol.

Through the activity, students learned what each ingredient does and how it can contribute to cleaning teeth, fighting bacteria, adding flavor, and more! 🦷

On Tuesday, August 25, Our Blood Institute (OBI) held a blood drive at the CCC campus, where 20 students, staff, and faculty members donated a total of 15 units of blood.

Because OBI can process each unit of blood into three separate components—red blood cells, platelets, and plasma—these donations can be transfused into different patients, ultimately impacting up to 45 lives.

Ashtin is a great example of what it means to live out our CARES Values. She is collaborative, resilient, and always student-focused. She works well with her classmates, is quick to encourage and support others, and continues to push through challenges with determination.
