Abby has made tremendous progress since becoming one of our wonderful athletes!
This exercise is a resisted walk/sprint. In Abby’s case, we are progressing toward the motor control necessary to execute multi-step exercises like squats—but waiting until then to strengthen her legs and feet simply isn’t an efficient approach.
This movement not only helps create the forward lean and balance we’re seeking as we learn to sprint (and yes, Abby will ABSOLUTELY be sprinting at some point!), but it’s also a simple and effective way to strengthen the feet—especially when performed barefoot—as well as the quads, glutes, and hamstrings.
I’m never surprised by anything our athletes accomplish because, oftentimes, being surprised means you sold them short of what they’re capable of—and we firmly disagree with that mindset.
However, I am extremely proud and inspired by Abby’s willingness to show up, work, and get things done, even when the mental and physical obstacles are more than many of us could bear.
Way to dominate, Abby! 💪
