Tulsa County OSU Extension Center Extension plays a vital role in urban Tulsa County by providing proven, practical and priceless information to help people improve their quality of life.

The Tulsa County Cooperative Extension Office is part of the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service (OCES) and the Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at Oklahoma State University. OCES is funded through a partnership between federal, state and county governments. Extension's purpose is to provide research-based information and education to help Oklahomans make their lives better. While traditional college and career tech instructors teach skills for employment, Extension Educators teach skills for living. The Tulsa County OSU Extension Service reaches a diverse audience with programs focusing on agriculture and natural resources which includes the Master Gardeners, family & consumer sciences, 4-H youth development and community development.

It’s time to sharpen your cattle management skills, learn from OSU Extension experts, and take your operation to the next level!

🎓 2026–2027 OSU Extension Master Cattleman Series – Tulsa

The OSU Master Cattleman Program is a comprehensive, hands-on educational program designed for beef cattle producers who want to strengthen their knowledge of cattle production, herd management, and the business side of the beef industry.

Participants will work through the Oklahoma Beef Cattle Manual and receive 28+ hours of instruction, covering topics that can help improve decision-making, productivity, profitability, and quality of life for Oklahoma cattle producers.

Registration is open for the Fall Prescribed Fire Workshop & Field Day- call us today to register at 918-746-3725 (Hannah, Tulsa County Ag Educator)

Due to overwhelming interest and the incredible success of our February Prescribed Fire Workshop & Field Day at John 3:16 Mission Refuge Farm & Ranch, we're bringing it back this fall!

This past February, 57 landowners, producers, homeowners, and natural resource professionals joined us for a full day of prescribed fire education and hands-on learning. Participants learned from OSU Extension specialists, wildfire experts, and prescribed burn practitioners before witnessing a live 5-acre prescribed burn demonstration. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees reporting increased knowledge and confidence in using prescribed fire as a land management tool.

Prescribed fire continues to be one of the most effective tools available for improving grazing lands, reducing wildfire fuel loads, enhancing wildlife habitat, controlling invasive species, and promoting healthy ecosystems. With growing interest across Oklahoma, we're excited to offer another opportunity for landowners and managers to learn how to safely and effectively put fire back on the landscape.

Happy Labor Day!

Today, we celebrate the people whose hard work keeps our communities—and our agriculture—moving forward.

Here in Northeast Oklahoma, agriculture is built on long days, early mornings, muddy boots and a willingness to do whatever needs to be done. 🌾🐄🚜

From the farmer checking a field before sunrise, to the rancher working cattle, the hay producer putting up another load, the truck driver moving livestock and supplies, the mechanic keeping equipment running, and the countless people working behind the scenes—agriculture takes a team.

Labor Day is a good reminder that the food, fiber and resources we depend on don't simply appear on store shelves. They are the result of hard work by people across Oklahoma and throughout the agricultural industry.

So today, take a moment to appreciate the workers who keep our farms, ranches, businesses and communities going.

To everyone putting in the work—thank you. Happy Labor Day!

What Is It?
- No uniform definition. Generally includes these practices and outcomes...
- Practices: grazing management, reduced tillage, cover crops, reduced fertilizer & herbicide/pesticide use
- Desired Outcomes: increases or improvements in biodiversity, carbon sequestration, soil organic carbon, plant & animal communities

Regenerative agricultural practices should be carefully evaluated, as each site has unique characteristics & requirements.

Remember to consider:
- Site characteristics: historic & current land use, soil type, plant communities, regional weather
- Personal Resources: time, money, equipment, labor, goals
