Union Public Schools is hosting a Transportation & Operations Career Fair on Tuesday, July 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place in the lobby of the UMAC (Union Multi-purpose Activity Center), 6836 S. Mingo Road, in Tulsa.

Tulsa-area jobseekers are invited to attend the event, with the primary focus being on filling the district’s open positions for school bus drivers and mechanics for the 2026-27 school year. Other open positions in Operations include building engineers, custodians and groundskeepers. For a complete listing of employment opportunities at Union, visit https://www.unionps.org/careers .

“If you’re looking for a rewarding career with a chance to influence our next generation of students, Union is the place for you,” said Union Superintendent Dr. John Federline. “There’s just nothing like our Redhawks culture, and bus drivers and mechanics are an integral part of our team. We take our mission of ‘100 Percent Graduation, College and Career-Ready’ very seriously. Every employee at Union plays a role in helping our students achieve that mission, and that includes our front-line bus drivers.”

----------Bus Drivers Needed----------

Every year, more than 10,000 students ride Union buses on a regular basis. Every day, 73 bus drivers complete 360 routes, transporting students to and from school.

If you or someone you know is interested in one of our open bus driver positions, please visit www.unionps.org/careers. Starting pay is $19.19 per hour plus benefits, and Union provides paid training. It takes approximately four weeks for prospective drivers to get through the training, unless applicants already have their CDL. Union uses a computerized routing system, and safety is our No. 1 priority with cameras and monitoring on the bus.

For mechanics, the pay ranges from $20.11/hour to $33.52/hour, depending on experience. Union counts all years of experience for mechanics and bus drivers.

Be a part of the Union Redhawks Team with the best benefits in the state:

--Eligible for full insurance benefits, including dental, vision and life insurance
--Access to full-service health clinic
--Work the same days as Union students
--Tuition reimbursement available (if attending college); and
--Paid training

Drivers must have a CDL and meet other requirements. Applicants should bring their resume with them to the Career Fair. Applicants may call 918-357-7063 with questions or apply online now at www.unionps.org/careers .

“Our bus drivers play a critical role at Union, as they are often the first face of the district that students see in the morning and the last one at night,” said Rob Harris, director of Transportation at Union. “Time and time again, we hear from our students about bus drivers who have been a positive influence in their lives. Many of them motivate and cheer on our kids, so it’s a fun and rewarding job.”

The employment fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UMAC. The event is open to the public. There is no cost to attend.

What a SUPER day for our Super Kids!

Ellen Ochoa students had so much fun celebrating Super Kids Day with outdoor games, team activities, popsicles, picnic lunches, and lots of laughter with their classmates.

A special thank you to our PE coaches, Mr. Lee and Mrs. Davis, for coordinating the event and preparing students over the past two weeks so they felt comfortable and confident with the games.

Thank you to our teachers, staff, volunteers, and student helpers who made the day run smoothly. From setting up rotations to cheering students on, it took a team effort to create such a fun and memorable day for our students.

We loved seeing our students play, laugh, encourage one another, and enjoy one more special celebration together before the end of the school year.

Enjoy a few snapshots from Super Kids Day! 💙💛
